Travelogue: Kelowna, BC (Part 1)

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

We took a road trip down to Kelowna this weekend – drove down on Friday night and came back on Sunday! It was a 5 hour drive down (we keep going further every week!) but it was so worth it. Luckily for us, we were graciously hosted by Andrew and Hsu in Kelowna and they made us feel right at home! They brought us around and even gave us an entire list of what to do, places to eat before the trip, which was really helpful for planning our itinerary! Technically we had only about a day and a half to explore since we spent most of the time on the road but we managed to do quite a lot in that amount of time.

We reached Kelowna at about midnight so it was pitch dark and we couldn’t see anything around the house. So imagine our surprise the next day when we woke up to this incredible view…

Weekend Adventures: Blueberry Farm, White Pine Beach, Buntzen Lake, Spanish Banks

This post is coming up a little later than it should as I’ve been so busy this week with events and assignments on top of midterms so I’m trying to get the most done before leaving for Kelowna tomorrow!

Here’s what I was up to last weekend:

Saturday was Family Day! I was so excited that we had this day planned out to explore  places together! Since we live in Vancouver, we hardly go out to the other cities like Coquitlam, Surrey, Langley, Delta etc.. so this week, we searched for sights close to Coquitlam! Conquering one city at a time. 😀

Destination #1: Blueberry Farm

We started the day off in Richmond’s Blueberry Farm! We really wanted to pick some berries as they are in season… However, the farm we visited set a minimum of 5 pounds per person and since there were 3 of us that means we had to pick 15 pounds in total! That’s way too many blueberries for 3 of us and we’d probably take the whole day to pick that amount so we decided to just buy a box and move on to our next destination.

Weekend Adventures: Harrison Hot Springs, Cultus Lake, Stargazing

How’s your weekend been?

This week, we decided on exploring more of what BC had to offer! There’s no lack of activities to do in Summer here in BC, but they’re typically in the outskirts and require us to drive quite a distance (2 hours) to get there! We had an itinerary planned out for the day – Harrison Hot Springs, Cultus Lake Waterpark, and Stargazing at McDonald Park in Abbotsford!

I was feeling all jumpy and excited the night before because we were going to the waterpark!!! The last time I went to one was 4-5 years ago and that was Wild Wild Wet in Singapore. There were some similar rides but I still had so much fun! Theme parks really bring out the inner child in me.

Here’s a video that Nic compiled of our exciting day using his gopro camera! You’ll be able to see snippets of Harrison Hot Springs and our rides at the Waterpark! 🙂

Now for a pictorial update!

Summer Dates: Golf, Pool & Froyo

IMG_1837

Look at my failed attempt at swinging – only to see the ball fly about a metre away from me? After yesterday, I’m pretty sure my hidden talent does not lie in golf… :p Met Annie for a nice afternoon out yesterday! After all the embarrassing hits and misses, we got froyo at Steveston which made our day complete! It’s nice to be in the company of those who are on the same wavelength as you, once you find a friend like that, make an effort to keep them! 🙂

Weekend Adventures: Stawamus Chief Hike

IMG_1727

The past weekend, six of us drove up to the Chief for some healthy fun – HIKING! It was about an hour drive away from Vancouver. I’ve heard so much about it and I couldn’t wait to see the incredible view for myself!!

I used to be so much of a city girl till I came to Vancouver! Now, I find myself growing to love nature, hiking and the outdoors so much. The magic of Beautiful British Columbia! Just when I thought I’ve seen the best of BC, something else ALWAYS manages to surprise me and take my breath away… We drove there via the Sea to Sky highway – and the ride was so beautiful! (I’ll remember to take a video next time!)
