Before all the craziness of school started, we decided to set aside one day to explore Victoria! It is a place that I’ve always wanted to go to, as I’ve heard so many people raving about the Butchart Gardens and the Parliament Building and I’m glad to finally see them for myself! We were really privileged to have Nickey as our tour guide – this guy knows all the places to go and he can travel without a GPS! He’s like a walking wikipedia/navigator, he can answer all our questions!
We covered so many places in a day, and I love how Victoria has this vintage charm to it – the castles, heritage buildings, artistically planted gardens, all came together to paint this perfect picture of a city.
Read on to discover our itinerary for the day!
First, we had to take the ferry over to Victoria! The ferry ride was lovely. Being on the sea has this calming effect on me that can’t be replaced by anything else – what made it better was the awesome view that we had throughout..
We took about 1h 45minutes to get there and we couldn’t wait to get started on the tour!
Destination #1: Butchart Gardens
It definitely lived up to its hype, I absolutely loved how every flower was artistically arranged to form this amazing masterpiece. There were several gardens with different themes: Sunken Garden/Rose Garden/Japanese Garden etc and every garden was simply picture perfect!
Of course, we didn’t forget to leave our mark in the visitor’s book! We brought Annie (Winnie the Pooh) around with us so she could experience all the places we’ve been to even though she’s in Korea! (You’ll see her in the upcoming photos)
Destination #2: Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse
An old military base and the first lighthouse on Canada’s west coast. The moment the guys saw these sandbags, they went into army mode… Notice how the guys are fully equipped with their cameras? They went trigger happy this trip and they took over a thousand photos!!!
Destination #3: Royal Roads University
Destination #4: Mile 0
This place marks the start of Canada’s No 1 Highway and stretches all the way across Canada!
Destination #5: Parliament Building
Destination #6: Craigdarroch Castle
Destination #7: Government House
